From starting fires, to fishing, to making a sustainable shelter, be more prepared for whatever the world throws your way with a tactical bracelet like this one from Aegis Gears. The band, adjustable between 6 and 9 inches, is made from 12 feet of Mil Spec grade type III paracord (in a king cobra weave) so it's extremely strong and reusable. It features a compass, a magnesium firestarter rod, and a serrated ultra-sharp eye knife fire striker. The bracelet averages 4.5 out of 5 stars on Amazon from over 300 people (

We’ve speculated quite a bit about Microsoft’s upcoming Xbox One refresh, Well according to one Microsoft executive, it means—at least in the case of first-party Microsoft titles—native 4K gaming. Yes,

A game developer’s catalog recently disappeared from Steam after the company decided to sue 100 Steam users who were leaving negative reviews. Digital Homicide co-founder James Romine, the game developer in question, is seeking damages of $18 million from the commenters for a variety of claims, including harassment, stalking, criminal damage, and criminal impersonation, according to a copy of the complaint posted to Steam owner Valve confirmed to

Intel is now more than just a PC company. At industry events, the company’s keynotes feature drones flying around, robots walking on stage and musicians creating tunes from wearables. The chip maker is helping BMW build an autonomous car, will sell modems to Apple, and is leading the development of next-generation 5G cellular networks. For all these new markets, it will provide chip and data-center technologies. The transformation is happening partly under the leadership of Venkata Renduchintala, president of the Client and Internet of Things (IoT) Businesses and Systems Architecture Group at Intel. As Intel’s second-in-command, he helped cut struggling products like mobile CPUs and sharpened the company’s focus on IoT, servers, and connectivity.

After a short absence,  Microsoft doesn’t call Skype's new feature “Messaging Everywhere” of course, but it’s essentially the same thing: the ability to use an app on your Windows 10 PC to send and view text messages via your Windows 10 Mobile device. The feature's called SMS relay, and it includes the ability to send and view SMS and MMS messages. The updated version of the Skype Universal App preview that contains SMS relay is now available for Windows Insiders. Microsoft says the feature will hit mainstream Windows 10 and Windows 10 Mobile users in the “next few months.”

V-Moda CEO Val Kolton set out to make a splash in the headphone market by merging superb sound with impeccable style. Judging by V-Moda’s Crossfade line of headphones, he’s achieved his goal and then some. In a relatively short period, DJs have made V-Moda their headphone brand of choice and audiophiles have also embraced the brand. The 12-year-old company’s success drew the attention of the electronic musical instrument manufacturer Roland, which took Kolton’s latest creation brings Bluetooth connectivity to the V-Moda bag of tricks, and it’s battery is rated to deliver up to 12 hours of music listening (with a 30-minute “quick charge” providing more than three hours of battery life). It can pair with two devices simultaneously, but it surprisingly doesn’t support the aptX codec.

Autonomous self-driving cars are set to take off but they are less likely to be driven by private owners and will in all probability be part of networks operated by ride-hailing services, according to Lyft’s view of the future of transportation. The ride-hailing company expects that Lyft rides in the robot cars will outstrip those in cars driven by human drivers within the next five years in the U.S, according to John Zimmer, its co-founder and president. Ride-hailing companies, car makers and tech firms are eyeing autonomous cars as the next big opportunity. Uber Technologies tested its ride-hailing autonomous cars on the streets of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania recently, with a driver ready to step in during an emergency. Lyft says it is testing an on-demand network of autonomous vehicles in Phoenix and San Francisco in partnership with General Motors, which in January also invested US$500 million in Lyft.

No need to splurge for an additional controller to get in on some gaming action with your Android TV.

Few tech products in this world warrant a voiceover from late NFL Films narrator John Facenda, but we’ll make an exception for Microsoft’s Special Edition NFL Type Cover, which seems deserving of the “voice of god.” As the name implies, the NFL Type Cover is basically a standard Surface Pro 4 Type Cover with an officially licensed NFL team logo printed on the back. All 32 team logos are offered, including the generic Cleveland Browns (sorry, Cleveland.) Only Cleveland fans could tell that the NFL Type Cover has the Browns' “new” logo.

Well, you did it. You pulled the trigger on a shiny (or matte) new This isn’t poor planning, I swear—I like to back up my old phone

It’s difficult not to feel, as a PC gamer, like this whole “Remaster” kick the gaming industry has latched onto is anything but a shameless cash-grab. The occasional exception ( I had high hopes for

Preliminary data from U.S. sales of Apple’s newest iPhones suggested that the larger 7 Plus was outselling the smaller 7, which would be a first, a market research firm said today. Of the iPhone 7 online preorders tracked by Slice Intelligence during the initial 48 hours of availability, 55 percent were for the 5.5-inch iPhone 7 Plus. The remaining 45 percent were for the 4.7-inch iPhone 7. That was the first-ever flip to the Plus size in the three annual cycles since Apple offered a big-screen iPhone in 2014. According to Slice, U.S. buyers of the iPhone 6 or 6 Plus two years ago leaned toward the smaller and cheaper model, in a split of 65 percent to 35 percent. The gap narrowed last year with the 6S and 6S Plus, when the smaller iPhone 6S accounted for 59 percent of the total, and the 6S Plus with 41 percent.
