A drone carrying drugs, a cell phone, hacksaw blades and other contraband was discovered crashed in an Oklahoma prison yard on Monday morning. Officers patrolling the Oklahoma State Penitentiary in McAlester noticed the drone lying upside down inside prison grounds at about 9 a.m. having apparently crashed after hitting razor wire that guarded the facility. Upon investigation, they found a package of illicit material had been suspended from the drone by fishing line. It included two 12-inch hacksaw blades, a cellphone, a cellphone battery, a hands-free device, two packages of cigarettes, two packages of cigars, two tubes of super glue, a bag containing 5.3 ounces of marijuana, a bag with 0.8 ounces of methamphetamine and a bag containing less than 1 gram of heroin.

As noted by iFixit’s teardown also confirms that the Surface Pro 4 has a nine percent smaller battery than last year’s Surface Pro 3, at 5087 mAh instead of 5547 mAh. It seems that Microsoft sacrificed battery life for svelteness, with the Pro 4 measuring 0.03 inches thinner and weighing 0.07 pounds lighter (for the Core m3 version) compared to last year’s model.
The Mozilla Foundation, which supports the development of the Firefox browser, announced recently that it would contribute $1 million to various open-source software projects under the auspices of the new Mozilla Open-Source Support program. The foundation says that it’s looking to hand out money to as many as 10 projects, in amounts in the range of $10,000 to $250,000. The grant winners will be announced at the Mozilla coincidental work week scheduled for mid-December in Orlando, which is, in effect, the organization’s holiday party. The idea, the foundation said, is to give back to the projects that make Mozilla possible – whether by providing code that Mozilla uses in its products, or creating the tools project members use to do their jobs, or even underpinning the group’s infrastructure, Mozilla relies on a huge range of different open-source projects to function.
