It’s been over a year since Last year this was a Crytek game. Then Crytek, who bought the rights from a bankrupt THQ a few years back, started having similar money issues and after losing some key creatives, Deep Silver basically bought out both the All for a sequel to a game that’s legendarily mediocre. The video game industry is strange.

I don’t know who buys third-party controllers nowadays—I feel like the Xbox 360 controller is still the gold standard for PCs, with the Xbox One and DualShock 4 following close behind. But if you In a lot of ways the Wildcat is similar to the modular The main difference is placement—the Elite throws all four paddle switches on the back of the controller, while the Wildcat has two on top next to the LB and RB buttons and two (I swear this came from the press release) “removable aircraft-grade aluminum triggers” on the back.

Grab these new and updated Android apps and be set for the weekend.

I’m at PAX, so our weekly gaming round-up this week is more like a gaming round-up in progress. That I’ll never, ever update or finish. This week: Cliff Bleszinski’s new shooter has a name and trailer, Double Fine’s making a game about flying heads, and Square Enix is giving away an island. This is gaming news for August 24-28. Next time you search for apps on your Android device get ready for a lot of color. Google’s rolling out a new results page that uses bright shades of color and user reviews to entice you to download more apps. When you search for a genre or specific app name you’ll see either a box with the details about that particular app or a grid of several different choices. If nothing else, searching for apps is a much prettier experience. When you touch one of the suggestions, you’ll then jump over to the Play Store where you can download it to your device. If it wasn’t an app you were after, then just scroll down past the “more apps” button to see the other search results.

Consumer electronics vendors are going to Berlin next week with something to prove. At the IFA trade show, Samsung Electronics and Motorola Mobility aim to show that their smartwatches can compete with Apple’s, Sony needs to demonstrate that it’s still a relevant smartphone manufacturer, and LG want to convince customers that it’s time to buy a new TV. Here’s what to look out for. Samsung has already revealed it plans to launch the round Gear S2 (pictured above) in Berlin. The square original was powered by the company’s own Tizen operating system, and the new model is likely to use it as well. Videos and images of the Gear S2 hint at a product that’s smaller and better-looking than the original model, which was just a bit too large. If Samsung wants to keep the cost down and improve the battery life, removing the integrated 3G connection would also be a step in the right direction.

Under the plan, a consortium called the Flexible Hybrid Electronic Institute will work on using 3D printing to build bendable, thin electronics that could match the contours of a person's body or a military vehicle, a defense department official told Reuters.  The technology could find its way into soldiers' uniforms as health monitors or placed in the cramped compartments of a ship or aircraft to measure structural integrity, the official said.
