Apple is officially warning inked Apple Watch users that they might have trouble getting reliable heart rate readings. The company has updated its “Permanent or temporary changes to your skin, such as some tattoos, can also impact heart rate sensor performance,” the document now reads. “The ink, pattern, and saturation of some tattoos can block light from the sensor, making it difficult to get reliable readings.”

After The Powerwall is a wall-mounted lithium-ion battery pack that can power a home during outages. It can also cut down on electricity costs by storing energy when rates are low, and discharging during high-cost peak hours. Owners of solar panels can use the Powerwall to store excess power, making it easier to get off the energy grid completely. Tesla will sell the Powerwall to home installers in two sizes: The $3,000 model offers 7kWh, while the 10kWh version (which Tesla recommends for backup applications) will cost $3,500, both with a 10-year warranty. Homes that need more power can chain multiple packs together. Keep in mind those prices don't include inverter or installation costs; unless you're a trained electrician, you won't be able to install a Powerwall yourself.

If you accept that Microsoft’s HoloLens is a tool, you’ll be delighted. But be wary of its followers, who seem to believe that it shall lead Microsoft to the promised land. There’s a fine line to walk here, for HoloLens holograms truly are a transformative experience. Interacting with virtual objects an arms length away, seemingly hovering in space, is a memory that you will not easily forget. But now that I’ve tried out HoloLens not once, but twice, I can be a bit more critical. Microsoft supposedly has manufactured hundreds of HoloLenses, but few (none?) have been seeded to developers.

Power settings are one of those facets of your PC you never really think about until you need to change them. The default settings in Windows are pretty good, but they may not suit everyone or be ideal for certain situations. That's why Microsoft makes changing them a snap. I recently had to manage my power settings to deal with a large download that was taking forever. I figured it would be finished in about two hours, but it was late at night and I didn't want to bother waiting around for it to finish. I also knew, however, that if I didn't adjust my power settings the PC would probably go to sleep and my download wouldn't be sitting there waiting for me in the morning.

Users are getting greater choice over what information is shared with websites and apps when they log in using their Facebook ID. A new version of Facebook Login, which begins its wide roll out this week, will present users with a prompt to “Edit the info you provide.” Clicking that will let users grant or deny access to different types of information. The login now also highlights who will see content posted by the app in Facebook, for apps that request the ability to do so. Facebook first announced this system during its F8 developers conference in April 2014. Many of the most popular apps, like Pinterest and Netflix, are already using it and over the next few weeks, Facebook will turn on the system for every app that uses the Facebook Login.
